"So who should Americans outside of your religion vote
for?...I happen to be Jewish..."
Please try to guess where this quote is from:
"I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; my heart is like
wax; it has melted within me. My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my
tongue clings to my jaws; you have brought me to the dust of death. For dogs
have surrounded me; the congregation of the wicked has enclosed me. They pierced
my hands and my feet; I can count all my bones. They look and stare at me. They
divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots."
If you thought it's about the crucifixion of the Messiah from the New Testament, you
would only be half right; it is about the Messiah but from Psalm 22:14-18 of
your
Tanakh ("Old Testament" to Christians).
Here is another passage about the Jewish Messiah from the Hebrew
Tanakh, this time from Isaiah:
"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised
for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon him, and by his
stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every
one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all...
Therefore I will divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the
spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul unto death, and he was
numbered with the transgressors, and he bore the sin of many, and made
intercession for the transgressors." (Isaiah 53:5-6 &12)
Non-Christians have their eternal destiny to worry about before
their votes, and as a Jew you have the advantage of
your
Tanakh, whose
Ketuvim and
Nevi'im prophesied about
the Messiah as above.
To confirm these and other prophesies about the Mess
iah, read the New Testament
for yourself.
If the whole book seems like too big a taboo to breach, just
read or study the
Gospel of John.
